In-Class Whiteboard Activity - 4 Quadrants of Emotional Intelligence
Why This Activity Matters
The practical use of Emotional Intelligence is easier to understand when we can organize it visually.
This activity helps us map the 4 domains of Emotional Intelligence and connect them to real life, and show how emotional intelligence affects behavior, relationships, and success.
Our Task
Create 2 groups: Each person must add at least 2 meaningful contributions to the diagram using words, examples, labels, symbols, or drawings.
Create a whiteboard map with Emotional Intelligence in the center and the 4 domains around it.
Your board should show what each domain means, what it looks like in real life, and how people can grow in that area.
How to Set Up Your Whiteboard
- Write Emotional Intelligence in a circle or box in the center of your board.
- Divide the rest of the board into 4 quadrants.

Label the quadrants:
• Self-Awareness (complete now)
• Self-Management (complete now) -
STOP - we will continue learning about social now
• Social Awareness
• Relationship Management - Complete the quadrant using art, arrows, lines, symbols, and color to show how the 4 domains connect to the center idea.
Each Quadrant Must Include
Explain the domain in everyday language.
Show what that domain might look like in school, work, or daily life.
Show what can go wrong when that area is weak or ignored.
Name one strategy that could help a person improve in that area.
